What is a private key mnemonic?#
- xLog uses a wallet account for login. When you create a wallet account, it will display the private key mnemonic.
- It is equivalent to a traditional account + password, but it cannot be changed, cannot be recovered, and once lost, you will permanently lose access to the account.
How should I properly save my private key mnemonic?#
- The best way is to memorize it; no one knows what is in your head (I can't do that).
- Alternatively, try writing it down and keeping it in a secret corner, and remember to regularly check and maintain it (including paper aging, security of the location, etc.).
- It is best to not save it on the internet; regardless of whether your hosting provider uses end-to-end encryption, it is unsafe (however, I have it stored in Xiaomi Cloud Album).
- Please ensure that the location you store it in is secret and will not undergo frequent destructive changes (for example, if you store it on your computer's C drive and then forget to reinstall the system one day, it is very likely that it cannot be recovered).
- But also do not overly keep it secret; sometimes, encryption often defends against oneself rather than hackers who want to steal your private key mnemonic.
Where should I check my private key mnemonic?#
